PARCC Overview

October 2013 PARCC Update (NYSED)

• NYSED has delayed PARCC implementation to 2015-2016.

  • February 2014 UPDATE--"NYS has delayed consideration of the adoption of the PARCC computer-based assessment to no earlier than the 2015-16 school year."

• NYSED has NOT committed to PARCC.

• NYSED HAS committed to Computer-Based Assessments.

• PARCC Field Testing will move forward this school year.

  • Spencer-Van Etten-- 4th, 5th, 7th Math (online), 3rd ELA (online)

  • 4 other regional districts originally planned on participating in field tests

The PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) Assessments are coming in 2015-2016. These online assessments will assess students in a more rigorous fashion. Are your students ready for this type of assessment? Come learn about the PARCC Assessments and what you and your teachers need to know in order to prepare for them.

PARCC UPDATE (8/23/13--Memo from Ken Wagner)

• NYSED to decide whether or not to adopt PARCC by 1/1/14--still not decided as of January, 2014-- committed to computer-based assessment.
• PARCC will have paper-pencil assessments available.
• NYSED will continue with current assessment system
• Limited piloting/field testing in NYS.
• All schools will have access to a PARCC practice test in Spring 2014
• New Sample Items out in .pdf format--more to be released in the fall (October)
• Sample Items to be re-released in computer testing environment (November)--still not out as of January, 2014.
